New ANZSCoS President
by Leanne Rees
After four years as ANZSCoS President, it was lovely to attend our first in person annual scientific meeting, in four years, to handover the baton to Brooke Wadsworth (left in image) from Queensland. Brooke has recently been ANZSCoS vice president and comes with a lot of SCI experience and connections. Andrew Hall from Burwood Academy (Christchurch) has been voted in as vice president, the first person with SCI to hold an executive position, and Assoc/Prof. Joanne Glinsky (NSW) and Dr Gerard Weber (NSW) will be staying on in their respective roles of secretary and treasurer.
The ANZSCoS Committee sees the departure of Dr Raj Singhal (Christchurch), of which we say a big thank you, and the remainder of the committee stays the same – Janette Alexander (Victoria, Research Officer), Dr Susan Urquart (Qld), Soo Oh (Qld), Helen Kraft (SA), Christine Rimmer (WA) and Kiara Hurt (WA). We do have two new committee members which is very exciting, Antonio Vecchio (Victoria) and Paul Watson (NSW).
Being a member of the ANZSCoS Executive and Committee for near 10 years has been a wonderful opportunity to build connections and relationships with colleagues from across Australia and New Zealand. The transition from tele-conferences to video-conferences for our bi-monthly meetings has really helped strengthen our dynamic, and hopefully it shows the ease in which we can collaborate between SCI services.
I would like to thank the ANZSCoS Executive and Committee for their support over the past four years. I’m looking forward to staying on the committee and helping with the website content. The website as a great platform to showcase the great work that is being done by ANZSCoS members, so please keep an eye out for new content during 2024.
