Western Australia creating spaces for reflection and connection
The ANZSCoS Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM ) this year heads to Fremantle, November 27 to 29. It is shaping up to be a wonderful program, with an emphasis on sustainability in health care and delivery.
Nicole Hunter, an Occupational Therapist with 30 years SCI experience, and Dr Emma-Leigh Synnott, a Rehabilitation Physician who has worked in SCI since 2017 are both on the local organising committee.
Both Nicole and Emma are passionate about creating spaces for people to reflect and make connections, and the ASM program has been deliberately designed to facilitate this. Nicole and Emma report wanting a program that builds on their values, which includes ensuring there is space for the voices of people with SCI.
Designing a program on sustainability builds on initiatives they have introduced in their rehabilitation setting which includes introducing compostable greenies to replace the traditional non-compostable bluies.
‘Sustainability is not just about how we care about the environment, but also considers how we can care about communities’ says Emma.
